Is the TJ test hard?
It’s pretty hard to get into TJ. You need to test extremely high in math and pretty high in english. It’s also an incredibly stressful environment, but the payoff is amazing. They do teach teens how to be successful in research careers, and they do amazing research.

TJ’s admissions processIf a student has a GPA of 3.6 or higher, they need an overall score of 65+If the GPA is between 3.3-3.6, they need a 70+If the GPA is between 3.0-3.3, they must score above 75.
What is the TJ test like?
The TJ Admissions test is similar in structure to the SAT or PSAT with both math and verbal sections in multiple-choice format. Each test is worth 50 points. Students have two hours to complete the test, and the sections are not timed separately.
Can you use a calculator on the TJ test?
Students enrolled in TJ Math 1 – 4 will be required to take the state-mandated Standards of Learning test. These tests do not allow the use of calculators beyond the capability of the TI-84, therefore students may not use more advanced calculators (i.e. TI-89) in classes below TJ Math 5.

Is TJ a good school?
The curriculum is rigorous and advanced, lots of resources, and the school is a great school overall. The people are great and most of the teachers are great too. The academics are super rigorous but class content is interesting and 8th period and friends make up for the difficult tests.
