What are the side effects of Champix?
The most common side-effects with Champix (seen in more than 1 patient in 10) are nausea (feeling sick), insomnia (difficulty sleeping), abnormal dreams, headache and nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the nose and throat). Seizures have been reported with varenicline therapy. Therapy with this drug should be administered with caution and monitoring is recommended in patients with a history of seizures or other factors that can lower the seizure threshold. Can Champix help you quit smoking?
Treatment with Champix is more likely to succeed in smokers who are motivated to stop smoking and who are also receiving additional advice and support. Patients set themselves a target date for quitting and will usually start taking Champix one to two weeks before this date.
